CASE UPDATE: Agreement reached with the City of Chicago and Illinois Attorney General that allows the community plaintiffs to monitor and enforce the consent decree to reform the CPD.

The community coalition behind two major lawsuits, Communities United v. City of Chicago, filed by the ACLU of Illinois and Equip for Equality, and Campbell v. City of Chicago, filed by a coalition of legal firms, including the MacArthur Justice Center and the University of Chicago's Mandel Legal Aid Clinic.

Under the terms of the agreement, the groups may provide input into the decree being negotiated between the City and Attorney General, object if the decree is inadequate and, once the draft decree is entered by the court, enforce it if the City and CPD don't follow it.
